Energy dispersive (ED)
The EDX-8100 energy dispersive x-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF) spectrometer incorporates a revamped semiconductor detector (SDD) with a special ultra-thin-film window material. An improved detector offers a high fluorescent x-ray count per unit time to increase throughput and provide compatibility with helium purging.
Significant research is underway globally into both improving corrosion protection as well as removing chemicals of concern from existing corrosion protection coatings. This is because the cost of corrosion in developed economies has been consistently shown to lie in the range 2–4% of Gross National Product.

The Spectro Midex MID05 is fifth-generation, small-spot energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF) analyser for precious metal testing.
Up to four times more sensitive than the previous version, covering all elements from fluorine to uranium, and with increased sensitivity and flexibility to determine the elemental composition of a sample. It incorporates a 50 W X-ray tube and latest generation silicon drift detector. A large sample chamber can accept irregularly shaped samples from 0.5 cm to 40 cm in length and up to 5 cm in height, or, with an optional sample chamber extension, up to 30 × 40 × 36 cm.
