Quantum Design UK and Ireland are celebrating 23 years of Spectroscopic Ellipsometry workshops with their partner, J.A. Woollam. This free-of-charge workshop is aimed at both experienced ellipsometry users as well as newcomers. The format of the workshop includes an introduction, fundamentals of ellipsometric data analysis and an overview of ellipsometric applications in both research and production. New emerging applications are highlighted.

Application engineers from J.A. Woollam will give talks on theory, applications, products as well as a demonstration of the J.A. Woollam alpha-SE Ellipsometer. Delegates can bring along samples for measurement on the day.

After the workshop, the CompleteEase Course will introduce the fundamentals of data analysis at a beginner-to-intermediate level. All details will be described using the latest CompleteEASE software. Each registered participant will be invited to participate in sessions, and to view recordings of each session afterwards. In addition to internet-sessions, students will receive relevant example data sets to practice.

“Both the J.A. Woollam Spectroscopic Ellipsometry Workshop and the J.A. Woollam CompleteEASE Software Training Course was a very interesting and informative event, engaging its attendees to participate in the discussion of the various seminars and training sessions. From the workshop you had an introduction to spectroscopic ellipsometry and its applications, as well as exposure to the latest research in the field, showcasing real-world use cases in advanced characterisation. This definitely provided the necessary background and context for newly acquainted users, as well as serving as a ‘refresher’ for more experienced users.”—Steven R. Carneiro, Technical Specialist, Plessey Semiconductors
