Autoflex Speed MALDI-ToF

Bruker has announced the autoflex speed MALDI-ToF mass spectrometer as a high-throughput option for microbial identification by molecular fingerprinting using its MALDI Biotyper platform. This is a possible option for high-throughput microbiology labs due to its higher throughput, reduced maintenance requirements and further extended uptime. Technical advancements of the autoflex speed are the 1 kHz smartbeam solid state laser and system electronics for speed and throughput for high-volume microbiology labs, smartbeam laser lifetime specified with >109 laser shots, MALDI Perpetual ion source with IR laser-based self-cleaning in minutes without additional down-time as source cleaning can be performed under vacuum, automated source cleaning for extended maintenance intervals and enhanced instrument uptime and transponder-aided MALDI target tracking.
