Specac have introduced the Pearl, a high-specification, liquid transmission accessory for mid-IR and NIR sample analysis in the lab. The new Oyster “lift and tilt” cell holds the sample in the horizontal plane, and enables fast and easy access to load the sample and to clean between samples. For volatile samples, there is an injection access port which allows the sample to be loaded without opening the cell assembly. The Oyster cell’s design also enables it to be used for the analysis of highly viscous samples such as oils and greases. The Pearl has been designed to provide a more accurate pathlength than can be achieved with traditional accessories, repeatable to better than 1 µm. The Oyster cell can be provided as parallel or wedged cells, to eliminate fringing. Both ZnSe and CaF2 windows are available in 50 µm, 100 µm, 200 µm, 500 µm and 1000 µm pathlengths. Cells can be interchanged quickly and easily.
