Bio-Rad offers specialised editions of its KnowItAll system specially customised for spectroscopy and other areas of research. The latest release, Version 8.1 of the system, features improvements to its spectral mixture analysis tool.

This application, introduced in Version 8.0, assists researchers in the determination of the components of mixture spectra. Researchers import the digital spectrum to be analysed and the software then searches and compares the sample to reference databases of known compounds. The results show possible components in the mixture from the reference database. With the release of 8.1, results also include mixture component ratios to help researchers to ­understand the relative proportions of the components.
