Two new nitrogen generators, the ABN2ZA and the AB-3G, have been introduced by Peak Scientific. Both are specifically designed to operate LC-MS instruments manufactured by Applied Biosystems/MDS Sciex, producing nitrogen and dry air through three independent outputs at the required flow rates, purities and pressures. Both models combine two separate gas generator systems in one unit with the source and exhaust gases being generated by one system and the curtain gas being generated by the other. Internal air compressors make the ABN2ZA a stand-alone, self-sufficient nitrogen generator, independent of external air sources, whereas the AB-3G has been designed with additional compressor capacity. This additional capacity allows the compressors to cycle more frequently, maximising compressor life. In the event of one compressor failing, the internal control system alerts the user and manages the compressors to maintain a full output flow from the generator until the fault can be rectified.
