Princeton Optronics has introduced a high-power, thermally stable, back reflection immune 808 nm semiconductor laser (PO-CSI-70-W808) based vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser technology. The device is composed of a 2-D planar VCSEL array mounted on a high thermal conductivity sub-mount. It produces 70 W output power in CW mode, with a narrow spectral width, thermally stable emission wavelength and low beam divergence. It can also be operated in QCW or short-pulsed mode. It is immune to back reflections and offers reliability since it is not subject to catastrophic optical damage. Such a laser is suited to pumping applications, medical devices and frequency doubling.
